I write for a many different websites on a number of topics. Here’s who.
Torque is an online publication by WP Engine. It has, by now, become one of the biggest WordPress blogs on the Internet. I have been happily working with Torque since 2014 and contribute weekly articles on search engine optimization, WordPress business, blogging, copywriting, WordPress plugins, and other topics. You can find my author profile here.
MBJ is a London-based company offering WaaS (website as a service) that is taking off like crazy at the moment. My role has been to contribute to their content marketing with article writing, translations, WordPress training, and copywriting.
While working with Torquemag, I also sometimes craft content for its parent company. Mostly white papers and ebooks like An Untechnical Guide to The WP REST API for Non-Developers and The Ultimate Pre-Launch Checklist for WordPress Sites. I am also a big fan of their managed WordPress hosting.
An Australian-based WordPress company founded by Ayla and Brian. They make the excellent SportsPress plugin (seriously, it’s excellent). It helps sports teams and others easily create sports websites and is packed with features. I have contributed to the company blog and helped with their content strategy and general online marketing.
This website contains a series of excellent guides that help people set up their own website. I have been the editor-in-chief of Websitesetup.org since 2019 and also write articles on many different topics (WordPress, web design, web development and more). If you are just starting out with your own website, definitely swing by.
Another WordPress blog, this one run by Devesh. It’s filled with useful articles, tutorials and other helpful content. The site also offers lots of cool deals on WordPress products. If you are interested in my articles on WordPress plugins and online marketing, you can find my author profile here.
FluentU is a startup which helps others learn languages faster and easier through real-life videos. As a language nerd myself, I was happy to to contribute to their German-learning blog. Working with them also led to my first viral article, which has been read by more than 1.2 million people and shared over 350.000 times.
Teagora was a startup from Shanghai which allowed people to buy the finest Chinese loose-leaf tea directly from its growers. They made me, a stout coffee advocate, a tea convert and were also one of my first clients. I helped out with blogging, content strategy and SEO.
Web Design Clients
While writing and content creation is the heart of my business, I also build high-quality websites for clients (with WordPress, naturally). You can find some examples below (click on the images for a larger version). Please use the contact form to get in touch if you are looking for web design so we can discuss your needs.
Ralf is an excellent graphic designer and a dear friend. Over the years he and his keen eye have helped me tremendously. Whenever I need something to look good, I turn to him. So, when it was time to build a new website for his own business, I jumped at the opportunity. Click the link to find the result of our labor.
Inter:Culture:Capital is a project dedicated to further communication and cooperation between Germany and China. The website has quickly become one of Germany’s leading China blogs and regularly gets picked up by major international media outlets. I am happy to be a co-founder and responsible for web design and development.
As the name suggests, this website helps people do business in China. They offer sales training, HR training, intercultural training, translation, and much more. Fun fact: The founder and I shared a tiny dorm room in China for 11 months. We are still friends to this day. I did both the design for the website and took care of its implementation.
Ori is a singer and entertainer from Cuba with a lot of passion. The site design is by a friend (who really needs his own website so I can start linking to him) and I implemented it. This includes the mobile responsive version, an event calendar, and customized homepage design.
The website of the dojo where I train for my second career as a ninja. Joking aside, web design and implementation by me, including theme customization, multilingual setup, speed optimization, and more. If you are in Berlin, swing by for a trial session!
WordPress and Blog Training
Besides the things mentioned above, I also provide WordPress and blog training to some of my clients. Here they are.
EDUongo is a venture-backed startup that enables anyone to start their own online school or course within minutes. I worked with them to build a video course on how to start a WordPress website. This included scripting the course content, recording video lessons via screen capture, doing the voice over as well as editing. The end result consists of 50 videos and is more than four hours long.
An awesome travel blog by Mareike who writes about her adventures around the world. She has seen quite a bit. Especially check out her posts from the Galapagos islands. I helped her with blog training and implementing changes to the website.
Here are also some other things I have been doing like translation, project management, and copywriting.
skobbler is a globally-active app development company. They are dedicated to producing awesome navigation apps using the open source material from OpenStreetMap. I was lucky enough to work with them as team lead of quality control, supervising product localization for iOS and Android apps, doing copywriting, and translation.
REGENREICH is a group of highly-talented designers from my hometown Münster (which explains why “rain” is part of their name). I had the honor to provide translations for some of their projects. They do some amazing things with websites. Highly recommended!
I love creating things and making stuff happen. Besides working with and for other people, I also start different entrepreneurial ventures like the ones below.
herbiwarrior was my first business venture. I founded the company right out of college and developed a plant-based protein powder from scratch. The first product run was financed through a $14,000 crowdfunding campaign. Working on my own startup laid the foundation for everything I do today and was one of the best schools I ever went to. The site is now a blog on fitness, nutrition, learning, and self-development.
Inter:Culture:Capital is a project I co-founded. Its goal is to improve communication and cooperation between Germany and China. The website has become one of Germany’s leading blogs on China. It also regularly gets picked up by major media outlets.
